CHESLEY BONESTELL

By Albert Tran

Born in San Francisco, California in January 1 1888, Chesley is often referred as the "Father of Modern Space Art". Truly a pioneering creator of astronomical art of his time, Chesley's works fascinated those who viewed his work with a sense of awe by showing them the reality of what lies above the skies and in the stars. From his art, viewers would feel what it would be like to sit on one of Saturn's moons and gaze upon the planet itself or the view from a spaceship drifting into the void of space. Chesley's works are timeless and mesmerizing to this day with how realistic his paintings are when compared with modern photos of the planets.
